Localizado en la Engadina (Grisones, Suiza), sin más precisión. La forma del refrán es bajoengadina. La glosa añade que por San Galo caen las primeras nieves. Cf. un refrán afín en asturiano: San Galo siñal te ha dar, pa'l ganao acorralar.
